Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Tokyo

   Arrival Haneda International and transfer to hotel, rest of the day at leisure

2. Day 2

   Tokyo

   Early in the morning after breakfast, set off from Tokyo on a guided group tour to Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi, with all the planning and logistics taken care of by the professionals. Spend the day exploring the most scenic spots in the Mount Fuji area, including Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, Oishi Park and more.

3. Day 3

   Tokyo

   After breakfast, skip the large group bus tours and enjoy a more personal way to see Tokyo with a private walking tour of the city's highlights. Because the tour is private, the itinerary is flexible and can be tailored to your interests. Neighbourhoods you might visit include Harajuku, Shibuya and Shinjuku, with the chance to see important temples and shrines such as Meiji Jingu Shrine. Guides speak English, French or Spanish. It's an efficient way to see many of Tokyo's key temples and landmarks, and pick-up from central Tokyo hotels is included.

4. Day 4

   Tokyo

   After breakfast, head out on a guided tour of Shibuya that goes beyond its famous crossing. Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest intersections in the world, is a favourite photo stop for many visitors, but the area around it has plenty of interesting sights that most tourists miss. Along the way you'll see a striking mural, visit Miyashita Park and discover some great shopping spots, while your guide shares tips on local bars and eateries to make the most of your stay. The tour is limited to 12 people, and with a guide leading the way, you won't need to worry about getting lost.

   Osaka

   Osaka

   After breakfast, set off from Osaka on a full-day guided tour through the history of Kyoto and Nara, where old traditions sit alongside modern life. In Nara Park, meet the free-roaming deer that politely bow in the hope of a treat. Walk through the striking red torii gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine, then explore the Arashiyama area, including the peaceful Bamboo Forest, Nonomiya Shrine, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Tenryu-ji Temple, the famous Togetsukyo Bridge, the Arashiyama Rilakkuma Tea House and the colourful Kimono Forest. With a friendly, professional guide leading the way, it's a wonderful mix of nature and history in a single day.

7. Day 7

   Osaka

   After breakfast, go beyond simply watching a match and step into the world of sumo wrestling in Osaka. Learn about the history and rituals behind Japan's national sport as retired sumo wrestlers give an authentic live demonstration, showing their techniques up close. The experience suits both keen fans and first-timers, and you'll come away knowing far more than you would from watching a match alone. If you're feeling brave, a limited number of guests get the rare chance to step into the ring and take on a sumo wrestler themselves.

8. Day 8

   Goodbye Japan

   After a final breakfast, take a little time to enjoy your last moments in Japan before you transfer to the airport for your flight home. You'll leave with happy memories of neon-lit cities, peaceful temples and wonderful food, and perhaps already planning your next trip to the Land of the Rising Sun. Sayonara, until next time!
